Vertex Light Bake for Blender
A downloadable tool
For low poly, PSX and mobile game artists who want soft lighting baked into vertex colors without UV unwrapping or a Cycles bake setup.
Select your meshes, press Bake, and Vertex Light Bake writes ambient occlusion, sky light and sun light with shadows into a color attribute. It shows in the viewport at once and exports through glTF as vertex colors, so your engine can use it with an unlit or vertex color shader.
Features
- Ambient occlusion with samples, distance and strength, plus contact shadows between objects
- Sky and ground light, and a sun with real shadows (or use the Sun lamp in your scene)
- Smooth per vertex or flat per face output, for a soft or faceted look
- One click material setup and a viewport preview toggle
- Presets for Soft AO, Sunny Low Poly and Overcast, with full undo
Free lite version: Vertex Light Bake Lite (ambient occlusion only) is a free demo download on this page, so you can try it on your own models before buying.
Tested with Blender 4.5.15 LTS and 5.2.3 LTS. Needs Blender 4.5 or newer.
Install: Edit, Preferences, Get Extensions, menu at the top right, Install from Disk, pick the zip.
License: this add-on is free software under the GPL 3.0 or later, like Blender itself. You get the full source and may share and change it under the GPL. Your purchase pays for the ready to install download, future updates and support.
